Matt signed for Hinckley United in July 2009 after his release from Hednesford Town. He had started his career at Coventry City in the Youth and Academy before becoming a regular Reserve team player. He was released from the Sky Blues in March 2009 before his short time at Hednesford.

Matt is single and drives a Cherokee, not the jeep but is actually carried around by a native of the North American tribe. He is employed at his local library, where he spends 3 hours being made-up and tranformed into an old man, who then walks around aimlessly annoying young mothers by following their children and tutting loudly at anything these youngsters may do. In his spare time he rocks wobbly tables, pulls wings off flies, spray paints yellow crosses on the pavement and schedules the programmes for SKY Arts TV.
