The Leisure Centre

This is an all sports venue situated on Coventry Road. It has 2 swimming pools, squash courts, an indoor sports hall and a fitness suite with a sauna area. Inside there is also a bar and cafe. If that's not enough, it is directly across the road from 2 pubs, the Sportsmans and the Prince of Wales.

The Brittania Centre

The 'Brit' as it became to be known is an indoor shopping center. There are a number of shops plus a cafe inside. It's entrance is from Castle Street which is Hinckley's main (er...only?) pedestrianised shopping street.

Er, like I said there's not much left unless it's alchohol.

The Pub Crawl

If your coming by Train then to get to the ground you have to pass quite a few pubs. I've taken the trouble of sorting through them for you:

Right by the Train Station is the Railway Hotel. It's nothing out of the ordinary but welcoming to anybody. From there go up the hill along Station Road into the town center. Opposite the school is Moody's Cafe. This is a licensed cafe and at night doubles up as a late night bar. From Moody's go down The Horsefairs and you'll find yourself on The Borough infont of The Litten Tree. This is a large Pub that also serves food at lunchtimes and has a late night licence. Across the road is Brannigans Bar, which looks small from the outside but goes back along way behind the shopfronts. It has a dance floor and opens late night. Along The Borough, about 20 yards, is The Baron of Hinckley. This is a Wetherspoons Pub and as such you should know what to expect. From 'The Baron' take a trip into the Market Place where you'll find the Bounty. This pub also has a nightclub attatched to it called 'Alleycats', but everyone refers to it as the 'back of the Bounty'. From the Bounty head along The Borough once again. At the end of The Borough is The Union. This Pub often shows football matches on their big screen when they are broadcast live. All the pubs in the town center are obviously 'townie' pubs. That means they all have their fair share of lads, p*ssheads, tramps and more importantly young ladies. Next door to The Union is the Dog and Gun, and The Duke of Rutland. These pubs are 'local' pubs for 'local' people. Try their wares if you must, but be sure to be backed up a small force of Paratroopers. From the Union it's best to go along King Street, past the Barley Sheaf Pub (it's full of weirdos), up lower Bond Street until the junction by the police station. On the corner is the Hollybush Pub. From there carry on up the hill along Upper Bond Street until the next 2 pubs, which are The Queens Head and The Black Horse, side by side. If you want to try the 'Queens' it's probably best to be Irish, but if your not it shouldn't be any trouble. After these pubs carry on along Upper Bond Street until the crossroads with Ashby Road/Middlefield Lane. At these crossroads take the right, along Derby Road until the corner where you'll come across The Weavers Arms. The barmaids in this pub are cracking (got to say that as my missus works there!). From the 'Weavers' double back to the crossroads and head down the hill along Ashby Road. Half way down is the Ashby Tavern. Like the 'Union' the 'Tavern' also shows the live football games on a big screen. Opposite the Tavern is Barrie Road. This road leads onto Middlefield Lane. The ground is at the bottom of the hill, at the end of the road.

Nightlife

In the town center there are quite a few pubs. From Lower Bond Street into the Market Place through the Borough and up to Regent Street. Most of the Pubs are listed in the pub crawl above. There are 3 Nightclubs in the Town. 'Zuu' is on The Horsefairs and caters for the teenagers (and under!?). For the Twentysomethings there is 'The Groove', this nightclub's claim to fame is that it has a er...helter skelter in it (don't ask). For the mature generation (30+) try 'Alleycats' or the 'back of the Bounty' as it is known. The Bounty Pub, in the Market Place, also doubles up as a nightclub. If your in the pub before 10pm you can walk through to the nightclub at the back without paying entrance fee.
