Argents Mead, the Castle Mound and War Memorial Argents Mead is a park in the center of Hinckley. This park is open to the public at all times and can be accessed from Castle Street, Church Walk, Hill Street or via St Mary's Church and the Council Offices from St Mary's Road or from Argents Mead Way. Within the park is the Castle Mound. This is the site of Hinckley's Norman Castle. Sadly the Castle is no longer in existence. It had been a wooden Mott & Bailey Castle and has long since disappeared into the past. In it's place the War Memorial was erected after the Great War and has been the center for Hinckley's Rememberance Parade ever since. The mound is still surrounded by a small part of the old Moat, which is now a home for a number of ducks. The mound and moat are open to the public only during the daytime. Argents Mead also gives access to Hinckley Health Center on Hill Street and to Council Offices.
