Brittania Shopping Centre, Castle Street & Market Place Brittania Centre Castle Street 01455 239776 The Brittania Centre is Hinckley's main indoor shopping centre, er, well the only shopping centre then. The pedestrian entrance is from Castle Street, with the Car Park available from Stockwell Head. There is obviously covered shopping available and also a cafe inside the centre. Castle Street itself leads from the Market Place up to the top of the 'hill' by Hill Street. It's name derives from the fact it was the main street by the side of the Norman Castle. Castle Street is Hinckley's main shopping area and was pedestrianised in the early 80's and remains so today. The Market Place has held markets since the 12th Century. It is also pedestrianised and holds markets every week. Market days are Monday, Friday and Saturday. There is also a Farmer's Market on the last Thursday of the month.
