Best wishes go to Dave Crowley and his family, hoping for a speedy recovery from
his terrible leg injury. Most of you will be aware by now that Dave broke his leg
badly in the match away to Welling and an operation was necessary. It was widely
acknowledged that this was Dave's final season playing and it is a crying shame
that his playing career should end this way. Although Dave has only been with us for 2 seasons he has come to be regarded as a manager's, player's and fan's favourite. He is a fully committed player who always gives the clich�d 110% and has long been thought of as an integral part of the backbone of the Hinckley United team. Dave was with Nuneaton Borough for over 7 years making over 300 appearances for them in the Dr Marten Midland, Dr Marten Premier and Nationwide Conference. Even now they still miss him and would have him back immediately. He played for the Boro' the same as he plays for Hinckley, a gutsy, committed and no nonsense approach to the basic aspects of the game. Not the most skilful player, but he has the ability to break up opponents' attacks and then provide a platform for the team to counter. We will also have the same problem replacing him, as has been seen in recent weeks while he has been out of the first team. Dave only missed three league matches in the 2002-2003 season and was one of the major reasons why we eventually dragged ourselves out of relegation danger. 72 games in all he has played for Hinckley United and one fortuitous goal, which was awarded to him after Leon Jackson had headed the ball into the goal after Crowley's cross had already crossed the line during the home match against Hednesford Town this season. I'm sure Leon will not be bothered one bit! Dave is a self-employed builder with a young family and not only will this injury affect his football career but his home life and financial security will also take a huge dent. I'm sure that the hierarchy of the Football Club will have already discussed such matters, but I think Dave should be kept within the Football Club in some format (of course if Dave wants to stay involved with the game that is.) Also as a great servant to Nuneaton Borough as well as Hinckley, perhaps a match between Hinckley and Nuneaton, either this season or next pre-season, could be arranged with all proceeds to go to Dave and his family. Hopefully we will still see Dave around the club and the regular appearance of his lad, Danny, will continue as match day mascot. Let's all hope that Dave's involvement with Hinckley United will not end in this unfortunate and sad way. Good luck to the Crowman. |

| Well we seem to have come through our bad patch and are now almost on course for Conference North. Realistically 6th place must now be our goal as the gap between us and the top 5 is now too wide. Though if Weymouth can throw away an 8 point lead at the top then we can also reach 5th. The Bath result was very disappointing and we got what we deserved from that match, but for the rest of the month it was the kick up the arse we needed. A point away to Dover was what I expected, but to win away at Welling was exceptional, especially after being 2-0 down. Ending the month unbeaten in the last 5 games is a real bonus going into the final phase of the season, as is a final at the Walkers Stadium to look forward to. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Who says the Chilean's don't know how to shoot on target? Bandera-de-Chile striker
El Rulo scored a last minute winner against rivals La Gonzalina. To which an oppo'
player pulled a gun out of his shorts and shot El Rulo three times! (Come on
we've all thought about doing it at some point this season) He survived the
shooting and cops are now after the LA Gonzalina player. (Well they've got a
good start - they know his number!) Granny Irene Robertson scooped �250000 on Spot the Ball after her dead mum urged her to play. At a s�ance her mum told her: "Don't forget the coupon." Irene had planned to stop her weekly �3 gamble after playing for 40 years, but now plans to treat her family. She said: "I see dead people." (OK made that last bit up! But you've got to ask the question, why is Thora Hird holding back on the Grand National winner?) |

| Coming next Month: Well with a possible 6 points to get to make absolute certain of Conference North we've got six games to do it. The last three home games against relegation fighting oppo' Havant, Grantham and Chippenham. The latter with a score to settle (you know why!) Away trips to Merthyr, Hednesford (who should be Trophy finalists by then) and a trip to the Broadfield Stadium to see Crawley crowned Champions (in place of champions elect Weymouth!) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
