New signing Rory Coleman made his debut at left back and Hinckley took the lead in the first half on the half hour through on loan Danny Newton and should've had a second as Aaron Cole smashed the post from 30 yards. Though Workington hit back in the second half on the hour when Rob Peet saved well from Rob Connerton, but Gareth Arnison followed up to put the ball in the net. Peet was in action a few more times after that as Workington applied the pressure looking for the winner, which eventually came in time added on. The 3rd qualifying round of the FA Cup has been drawn, and Hinckley United will be hosting Ossett Albion at De Montfort Park on Saturday 6th October. Albion play in the Noerthern Premier League Division One North and currently are having as bad a season as we are, occupying a relegation spot themselves. The on loan Dan Newton was allowed to play by his parent club Nuneaton Town and that would prove to be vital to Hinckley, who started pretty comfortably controlling much of the first half. Hinckley opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes with a superb 30 yard screamer from Aaron Cole on the edge of the area that flew into the top corner, rattled the stanchen before rebounding out with confusion as to whether it was a goal. Newton ran in and put the rebound into the net making sure it was a goal, but Cole was credited with the goal from the original shot. Hinckley double their lead on 25 minutes with another excellent strike from the edge of the area, this time Aron Wint curling the ball out of the reach of Tim Beech in the Tividale goal. Tividale hit back immediately when the Hinckley defence failed to defend a corner played across the face of goal and Avun Jephcott slotted into the net. Within 5 minutes Hinckley restored their 2 goal advantage as Wint looked to lift the ball over Luke Paskin, but the defender blocked it with his hand resulting in a penalty. Newton comfortably beat Beech with the spot kick leaving the half time score 3-1 to Hinckley. Tividale came out for the second half with a bit of renewed vigour and looked to apply some pressure on Hinckley. That pressure paid off on the hour when Hinckley again failed to clear a corner and the ball came to the far post where Richard Taylor headed past the stranded Robert Peet. This woke Hinckley from their second half slumber, but then proceeded to waste some good chances. Jack Lane saw his shot blocked in front of goal, and Wint mistimed his header from close range then with 15 minutes left Hinckley looked to have put the tie beyond Tividale. Lane ran well down the right and played in Wint running into the area, pulling the ball back for Newton 10 yards out, who side stepped one tackle before slotting past Beech, scoring Hinckley's fourth goal. However Tividale weren't going to give up and replied again almost immediately from the kick off as James Cooper was felled in the area. Jephcott scored his second goal of the game beating Peet with the spot kick. In a back and forth second half Hinckley maintained their 2 goal lead, again, in the 80th minute with Jack Lane earning his man of the match award with his first goal for the club, and the best goal of the game. Lane ran down the right and cut inside onto his left foot unleashing a shot from the edge of the area that curled around Beech and into the far top corner. There was still time for Lane to nearly add a sixth when he tried a speculative chip from a tight angle but it clipped the top of the crossbar and settled onto the roof of the net, leaving the final score 5-3 to Hinckley. click here for: Tividale match details return to top Saturday 15th   Hinckley stuck in reverse at Vauxhall Hinckley United remained stuck at the bottom of the table after an away defeat at Vauxhall Motors, thanks mainly to an inspired second half display from Motors keeper Zac Jones. The first half was even, if uneventful, but the match sprang into life at the start of the second half with Dan Newton forcing Jones into a diving save, before Vauxhall hit Hinckley with two quick goals. Tom Rutter put Vauxhall ahead from close range, and then Dan Parkinson scored an excellent solo goal beating the offside and firing into the top right corner. Hinckley hit back with Jack Lane blasting a free kick against the crossbar and Dan Newton forced the ball into goal from a corner leading to a frantic last 10 minutes for Hinckley. Jones was called into action a number of times including a fantastic full length dive to his left to deny Newton, but Hinckley couldn't find a way past the Motors stopper and left the game empty handed. click here for: Vauxhall match details return to top Monday 10th   It's FA Cup time already! Wolves, from the West Midlands Regional League Premier division drew 1-1 with Tividal, of the Midland Alliance and the replay takes place on Tuesday night. Hinckley started with new signing Ashley Palmer in central defence, and loan signing Obi Anoruo up front. And Anoruo almost had an immediate impact in the first minute when he played a through ball to Jack Lane who's shot grazed the outside of the post when half the ground thought it had gone in. Then minutes later Dan Newton saw his 10 yard drive beat the keeper but cleared off the line. Halifax took the lead against the run of play in the 15th minute when a long goal kick was headed on into the path of Dale Johnson and he fired past Robert Peet when 1 on 1. From the point where Halifax took the lead they pretty much controlled the game. Paul Marshall saw his free kick drift just wide, before Johnson missed a great chance to score his second, receiving Gareth Seddon's cross in the middle of goal and blasting wide. Jason St Juste supplied a cross for Seddon, but he wasted that opportunity by completely missing the ball and then tried to make amends by shooting from 35 yards, the ball going wide of the goal. Hinckley had one last chance on the stroke of half time when Liam Hogan didn't clear properly and Newton fired goalwards from 15 yards, that just went wide of the goal. Halifax brought on Lee Gregory at half time and he proved to be menace to Hinckley's defence for the second 45 minutes. Almost straight from the restart, Gregory found himself 1 on 1 with Peet, but the Hinckley stopper made the save. Then Gregory harried Peet into a rushed clearance that fell to Seddon, who's 25 yard effort drifted wide. A free kick from Paul Marshall was played low into Hinckleys area and Liam Hogan blasted against the crossbar from close range, before Halifax scored the second goal they had threatened to do all half. With 20 minutes remaining Seddon played Gregory through the middle andagain he was 1 on 1 with Peet, but this time roundedthe goalkeeper and slotted into goal giving Halifax a 0-2 lead. Halifax could've had a third as they dominated the final 15 minutes with Seddon lobbing over the bar when through 1 on 1 and Liam Needham saw his shot blocked en route to goal. Hinckley had a couple of chances towards the end when a long range effort from Palmer was deflected inches wide, and from the corner Hogan almost put into his own goal, but it was too little too late and Halifax comfortablt saw out the last minutes to win 0-2. click here for: Halifax match details return to top Saturday 1st   Hinckley fold at Bower Hinckley United remained firmly rooted towards the foot of the table losing heavily to Stalybridge Celtic at Bower Fold. Never a happy ground for Hinckley to travel to, and the place where we were relegated at last season, it was again more frustration in front of goal as Hinckley failed to score for the fourth match this season. With two new signings on the bench, Theo Brown and Sean Wilkins, plus on loan Danny Newton starting, hopes were high that we might get a positive result. For half an hour the signs were positive, but a 15 minute spell of pressure by Bridge effectively had the game won by half time, thanks to goals from Greg Wilkinson, Adam Pepper, and a Jordan Barrow penalty. DT made changes at half time and brought on the two new signings and there was a rally from the team in the second half, creating a number of chances forcing the Bridge keeper to make a number of saves, but ultimately scoring none.
